Economic Development


The City of Rockford and the City of Greenfield share a common interest of promoting the growth of the area businesses and business communities centrally located along State Trunk Highway 55 in western Hennepin and Eastern Wright County of Minnesota.

The business districts, continuously situated along the highway are divided only by the Crow River and two distinct municipal jurisdictions and a county line.

Both cities have made investments in infrastructure, providing sewer and water to each of their respective business parks that both have convenient highway access. Situated just 15 minutes west of the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area suburbs, Rockford and Greenfield are the “western twin cities” with easy highway access to the interstate highway system and approximately 40 minutes from MSP international airport.


The City of Rockford has a history of fostering economic development offering technical and financial assistance ranging from a no interest loan program, tax increment financing and development of a municipal industrial park.

Traffic Counts

The city annexed 62 acres west of the city limits south of Highway 55 west of County Road 32 for industrial development. The city was awarded a grant to assist with extending the water and sewer to the industrial site.


The City of Greenfield is currently offering approximately 8.24 acres of commercial property for sale.  This property can be platted to suit your needs, with the smallest lot size of one acre.  It is located on the southwest side of Hwy 55, west of CSAH 92. 

This parcel is located in the Greenfield Business Park, a 220-acre commercial industrial development located 14 miles west of I-494.  Part of this development includes an approximate 50-acre townhouse district.  The lots have excellent visibility and access to Trunk Highway 55 and the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
